REPOSITIONING FANTA AROUND THE WORLD BY CELEBRATING TOTAL IDIOTS

Fanta has always been about “play”, but after making one too many ads depicting playful youngsters dancing while drinking Fanta, Coca-Cola asked us to have a bash at repositioning the brand globally with a fresh point of view on play.

It wasn’t long before we landed on an idea that as a total idiot myself, was very close to my heart: “Idiots are Amazing”.

To bring the thought to life, we decided to treat the real people behind some of the dumbest clips on the internet the way other brands treat superstar athletes. Because in a world that’s gotten way too serious, Fanta believes in play.

I HELPED LAUNCH FANTA’S NEW MYSTERY DRINK BY LETTING THE WORLD’S MOST SKILLED SOMMELIER’S GUESS ITS FLAVOURS

#WhatTheFanta? is a bright green drink with three mystery flavours that Fanta asked us to launch across Europe. Our idea was to create an online campaign that challenged teens to try and guess the three flavours online.

We launched the campaign with a series of very stupid but very swanky short spots for social, that set the bar of the challenge by showing some of the world’s most skilled tastebuds fail to guess the flavours.

We then put it to the public online, and promoted some of the stupidest guesses we got back across online and DOOH to create more buzz around the challenge.

TURNING A UK STARTUP’S £10,000 BUDGET INTO NATIONAL PRESS COVERAGE AND A BRAND LAUNCH THAT REACHED 800,000+ PEOPLE

Become UK recently challenged us to create a “fame making” launch campaign for their new line of underwear designed to control hot flushes and night sweats for menopausal women.

Our client was passionate about breaking taboos and fostering positive attitudes around the menopause, so we suggested a campaign that would boldly challenge the UK’s perceptions of “hotness” and the menopause.

After generating a lot of online controversy and chatter with some provocative posters, anyone that visited the URL was met with the true meaning of our headlines. We made our beliefs clear: that true hotness is about confidence, empowerment and independence, traits that are often found in abundance around the time of the menopause.

With zero media budget (the “outdoor” ads were just faked comps that we seeded on social media) the campaign reached over 800,000 people between Twitter and Instagram.

WE “ACCIDENTALLY” LEAKED THE PHONE NUMBER OF IRELAND’S MOST HATED SPORTS STAR ON TWITTER

A good rugby player knows how to run with any opportunity that presents itself on the pitch. So to promote Heineken's sponsorship of the European Champion's Cup, we set about finding some Irish rugby fans that could run with it off the pitch. How? It all started by leaking one of Ireland's most hated rugby star's phone number on twitter, of course...

To help Dulux Weathershield launch their most weather durable paint formula yet, we told the story of Ireland's most weather durable people.

This is a 60 second commercial we created to launch Lipton Tea Capsules in various regions across Europe and South America. Since the capsules were the first non-Nespresso products made to be used with Nespresso machines, our challenge was that the majority of consumers would never have considered their coffee machine as a means of making anything but coffee. We needed to make them see their coffee machines in a brand new light and encourage them to "reinvent" their coffee machines as tea machines.

WE TURNED A SHITTY LOOKING FOOTBALL ON A STICK INTO A NATIONAL HERO

Dublin Bus, our capital city's main public transport provider, wanted to tell people stuff about their improved route network. The problem was that being a public entity, every ad Dublin Bus created was met with outrage because people didn’t want their tax money being spent on “flashy campaigns” during a recession.

The solution? Create the shittiest mascot of all time.

I just launched an Instagram account that illustrates the weirdest terms from people’s Google search histories. In a nutshell: you share a funny term from your Google search history, we turn it into art with the help of some of the best illustrators going. Check out @DoodleMyGoogle on Instagram to see more.

In Ireland, all ads for higher education look the same. Generally it's all about testimonials, promises of academic excellence and reassurance of a high flying job at the end of it all.

So instead of telling stories about CEOs or bank presidents like other Universities, we thought we'd find a more interesting, human way to tell the stories of their alumni.

WE CREATED IRELAND’S MOST LOVED SPORTS SPONSORSHIP FOR IRELAND’S MOST HATED BRAND


This is the story of how we created Ireland's most recognised and awarded sports sponsorship campaign for four years running (and counting) for what was once the most hated brand in Ireland.

In Ireland, Gaelic football is our most popular sport and it has two major competitions: The County Championships and the Club Championships. The problem for AIB, the main sponsors of the Club Championships, was that the County Championships were overshadowing them with a higher profile and much bigger fan base. 

Most players compete in both championships but one of the interesting things about our competition is that since it's so difficult to win, it's the one medal most of the biggest sports stars in the country have never got their hands on.

So our idea was simple. Elevate the Club Championship by positioning it as the toughest competition to win in Irish sport. So tough, that even our most celebrated sports heroes can't win it.
